I recieved a hand made knife. It was made by my father-in-law who died 11 days ago from colon cancer. It was made out of an old lawnmower blade. he ground it down and shaped it by hand. Now I have something from him that will be treasured forever. Something that he made.

I too, "love Lucy", and have to tell you, that when someone gives you a gift that you cherish, it should NEVER have been placed where a small child could have gotten his or her hands on it... Opening it was bad enough, but to lose the pieces too? OUCH
As for the perfect gift... Yes, the first perfect gift I received was in 1977.....MY SON DEREK! The second came in 1985...SARAH!

When I was pregnant with my 4th child, my dog, the love of my life got really sick and had to be put down. I had, had her since I was 14 years old and in 9th grade. I was now 29 years old, and losing my family, my bed lump, car buddy, oh it was awful. Needless to say, I had a true nervous breakdown, while I was pregnant, and didn't come out of my room at all of days. My husband felt so bad for me that he bought me a male pug.
Can I just say, God Help Me When He Goes! He Is The Best Gift Someone has given to me. His name is Sexy Rexy! Big Fat Pug!He is awesome! He has the best personality! I now have 5 kids, and they all love him so much, we all do, even my husband!

I've received a touching or special gift but the perfect gift would involve several plane/cruise trips and lots of CASH to spend on those trips.

material wise it would be my wedding rings,
but my best gifts I receive is when my husband realizes that I need a break and he cooks or takes the kids out, or when my children do there chores without fuss. or all the hugs and smiles that are in my life.

yes, I've been blessed to have many such experiences. my friend Debra does it all the time, she got me a turquoise and bone choker with a handmade sterling silver running horse , she gave me a bear claw, a carved soapstone buffalo. all at important times, very spiritually profound items that meant more than she'll ever know. i cherish them almost as much as i do her.
