Are they lazy or just stupid?

Why is it that most of Africa still consists of a bunch of savages running around with war paint on their faces throwing spears at eachother and carrying baskets on their heads with bones through their noses. Are the African people just too lazy to try to convert to civilization?

in an attempt to sound intelligent, you have shown yourself to be stupid and lazy. why? because instead of reading books, or traveling, you watch television, and readily make assumptions about different cultures. For the most part, African has converted or adapted to a more modern society. however, there are parts of African in which people are very traditional. Why would that make you lazy? When imperialists went over there to try and Anglicized them, there were many ppl who had no choice but to convert, some were forced by fear or feelings of inferiority. But to be traditional and remain true a a culture that some have lost shows the very opposite of laziness and stupidity. To not conform to an ever changing, materialistic world takes patience, and strength. And are there o savages in your neighborhood? in this country? Carrying baskets on their heads is not an archaic way of doing something, and the bones in the noses are not practiced by the majority of Africans. It's 2007, and you have no excuse or reason to think in some racial, limited terms. It is almost as if you have the mind of a savage- and the word is not lazy, but rather proud.

I'd like to know who said that the way you live is the right way!!?? Do you think that because western countries use guns, missiles among other 'sophisticated weaponry' instead of throwing spears that we are not savage?

Have you ever heard of the 'New Imperialism'? Or the 'Scramble for Africa'? Maybe you should look it up if you don't know. It is where snobbish whites in Britain and Europe in the late19th and early 20th centuries went Africa and colonised it and while they were there thought that they were doing people in Africa a 'favour' by civilising the poor Lil' African savages.
It makes me feel embarrassed to say the least that my European ancestors were so arrogant to think they they were superior to anyone else because they didn't live like them or have the same beliefs etc. I think you should time warp back to the late 19th century were you belong! What a disgraceful, insulting question for you to ask.

Maybe they are just too smart to convert to civilization! There's nothing wrong with sticking to tradition' Look how crazy running the rat race of civilization can be on occasion! In reality, these folks do much more than running around throwing spears and wandering around with baskets on their heads all day. It's called culture. African tribes are one of the oldest cultures around, why should they change? Why does George Bush feel he needs to shove democracy down every country's throat? Not everyone is like the west, and I think that is not a bad thing at all.

What if Africa became "civilized"? Then we'd have them competing for our already high stressed energy sources, the world would go to entopy if everyone felt they needed to emulate the west. Thank god for Barbarians, spears and face paint.

It's an IQ issue. The average IQ in Africa is 70, and as low as 63 in Ethiopia. These numbers border on mental retardation when compared to the IQ of Western countries which average around 100. Of course there's nothing wrong with African natives having low IQs as long as they live amongst each other and are happy. The problem arises when they are forced to integrate with cultures and civilizations with higher IQs. That's when they are forced into a life of crime because they can't compete on a level playing field. This is why affirmative action is necessary.

I would say its a minority, not most of Africa! And why should they convert? They eat, sleep and procreate just like the rest of us, and its not a botheration to anyone else, so why not leave them be? I think its quite cool that in this day and age you can find places that are unaffected by the stresses of modern culture and I'd be quite interested to see how they live personally! I think your mentioning of bones through their noses is a bit extreme though :P but an interesting point!

I would suggest that you stop looking at TV and magazines and explore what Africa is all about. The truth is that there still are tribes and towns that still live like that but its not by force, it all that they know and who's to say the way that we live is so great.

Most of the images that you are talking are sterotypes and what the media wants you to think that Africa is really like when its not. There are cities over there just as advanced, if not more, than the USA.

I suggest that you research Africa and see what its all about.

I could not agree with you more. There are too many black savages everywhere. Even in England. Here are some of the problems in Africa. Corruption, civil war, poverty, education, HIV - the list goes on. The problem with Africans is black people. They will never change. All they do is fight amongst themselves and they never will have a sense of cohesion and decication. They blame the white people and other africans for their problems. I do agree to some extent. We raped their resources and used them for slavery. Although if we look at countries that were unaffected by the European colinisation like Sudan, they still have a terrible economic and political situation. There are always going to be problems in Africa and they will continually rely on the white man.

You must be joking? Obviously you have flunked out in school Many African countries have high rises like NY city. Many are people who can afford go to private school and on to colleges or overseas college. Some people chose to live in the bushes to retain their nomadic culture, but not the majority my dear. Why don't get get educated first before talking about something you know absolutely nothing about.
