The functions of the Orishas.

The prevalence of worship among Black Americans, Caribbeans, Dominicans, Puerto Ricans, Cubans, Panamanians, Jamaicans.

How do you know which orisha is yours? You're drawn to? What in your personality/nature determines this? I, for example, am drawn to Yemaya.

Thank you in advance for all of your informative responses!

Some people do it through ritual withexpierienced Santeros. I dreamed of Santa Barbara one night. I had heard her name before but did not know anything about her. But in my dream she had aglow comming from the inside and she spoke to me with thought. I asked her" who are you"? She replied " I am Santa Barbara" then I woke up. Three weeks later she came to me in a dream again. I asked her "what are you doing here" she replied"I want you to light a candle for me" The she placed her forefinger over a candle and it lit up! After that thats what I do for her.the reason I told you this is because Catholic saints were used as "stand ins" for the Yoruban Gods. Santa Barbara was a stand in for Chango.
