Yes and sometimes it wasn´t worth it.
I was offered a fantastic job in another country, but my boy friend (serious relationship, we were supposed to get married soon) was against it and didn´t even loose a thought about moving to another country... so, my mum and my future mother in law started to brainwash me... my Dad said, go ahead with your career, if this guy really would care for you - he would support you and not blackmail you...
Finally I stayed and 6 months I caught my ex with another woman... he said, oh, sorry my dear, but she´s so different to you, she´s a real business woman... (she was his new colleague from work)...
... well, I sacrificed a brilliant career offer - and what I received was a cold shower!!!

Gave up a well paid job for my gf a few years back because it meant moving away. 3 months later she ran off with my best mate,you live and learn
