I think politicians should agree to go without a pay rise for 2 years this money could go into the national health system thay all have made a mess of, there possible 3% pay rise will be more than some of use earn, this would get the vote there all after perhaps we should develope a politicans debate/ diet -less money-less talk-more action A new plee from joe public where less will mean more.

I think that wasn't a question more like a statement. Well I couldn't agree with you more, but I would go a little further. I think they should take a couple of years of minimum pay just to see what so many people have to live with. They have given themselves 7 raises in the past ten years and not increased minimum pay for millions of poor people in the same time frame. It should be illegal. I just don't understand how they can justify it.

You don"t think that Politicians are there for our benefit do you?

The majority of them are there for what they can get out of it for themselves.

They should be paid for how many times they attend debates, and how many times they contribute to the discussions.

How many times do you see an almost empty chamber during debates, they can"t all be in committees.

They are money grabbing and lazy, and the majority wouldn"t be able to hold down a normal job.

I think 1/5th of MP"s should stand for re-election every 12 months, then they may become more in line with Public opinion.

Milly there is no National Health System in the U.S. But the congress should be more aware as to how the people of the U.S. views them giving their selves a pay raise when the president is talking about raising taxes to pay for health insurance.

I can't think of any reason why they shouldn't have to seek the electorate's permission for a pay rise.
I'm sure it wouldn't be too hard to put it on ballot papers at election times in addition to the list of candidates.
Just imagine, they would have to face re-election to get a pay rise.

That is not a real solution. That is just populism. Look it up.

And think more seriously about the issues and real solutions.
