Depends. If he needed his space, I'd leave him alone for a little bit. If he needed a hug, I'd make sure to hug him as long as he needed it. If he needed me to say what a bunch of stupid @#$@#$ asshole jerks those people were that made him so sad, then i'd do that too ^_^.

well if my spouse was sad i will patiently find out what caused the sadness, if i was the one who caused it i will apologise and say sorry, i will then try and make it up to him by telling him how much i love him and how aweful i am for hurting him, i will also hug him and give him kisses, i will cook his special meal for him and have a romantic evening with him to sooth away his pains.

if someone else caused the sadness i wld ask him what i can do to help him get over it, i will also assure him , i will always be there for him, tell him things he loves to hear to put a smile on his face

My husband just held me and let me cry when my dad died (5 1/2 years ago now)....Every once in a while I still get sad when I think of him and if we are in the car, he holds my hand, if we're at home he cuddles with me and tells me he loves me.
I do basically the same for him when he's sad. Or I rub his back or something that just lets him know I am there for him.

First find out the reason for the sadness...Encourage your spouse to be truthful with you.....Once you find out the truth, you will then know how to comfort him or her.

Listen, just be there, comfort them, console them. Those are the key ingredients to offer comfort to them when your significant other is depressed or sad.

Depends on why she is sad, usually I would just attack her, or better yet tie her up and ravish her, that always cheers her up.... of course the obvious is to find out what's bothering them. You married them, you should know them better than anyone.

I would love and be there for him... I would rub his back and do things with him that he likes to do.. I would buy him a nice card to make him smile or laugh... I would be a listening ear to hear him and a shoulder he could lean on.

Start by giving him a hug and just hold him and rub his hair. Just be there for him.

Guess it would depend on WHY they were sad.
