Extremely insightful question!!
Control as such is strength and control over self is the greatest strength..... however, the desire to control other things or people is of course insecurity.
Control even when it is a fact, may lead to insecurity over loss of it, but that too, in reality, is the case of desire for control.

Let's put it this way, we control because we felt insecure. But at the same time, we won't be able to do it without strength. Hope what I said is true.

Control allows us to predict outcomes. While this may reflect insecurity, perhaps it is rather the desire for order and predictability. Control can become strength when we have enough control to create outcomes we desire, and even more control gives us the ability to get others to do what we want, regardless of what they want. That is power.
Maybe I use my power to get you to murder someone for me, or maybe I use it to get an alcoholic into rehab.
So I guess what I'm saying is, control is like the Force. It isn't inherently good or bad, those things are determined by how it is used. In and of itself, I would say control is niether, just control.

it would depend on the situation,,,,, wanting to control people is a sign of insecurity,,,,,, taking control of a situation when it is really needed, is a sign of strength,,,,, anytime you feel you should control people, and for it to be a strength, you must truly be thinking of their best interest,,what they want/desire, not what you want for them, nor of your own interest.
