Well i'm sure you know as well as i do that if you want power, you'll need to dump a 302 in it.It isnt that hard, and they do make kits for this swap.Your best bet is to just put the original engine back in it,if you dont want to modify anything. The only way your gonna get the power you probably want is with the v8 302.Yeah just go with the original v6.I'm sure it'll be just fine. There are alot a small things you can do to get a few more horses outta your engine.K&N air filter, different exhaust, and maybe even a rearend gear swap if your needing more low end torque.Stick with the v6 if you dont really want to modify anything.

Just about any old 289 305 ford V-8 engine and transmission will work. You have to be an accomplished welder and fabricator. Mounts shift linkage and then driveshaft shortining and rebalancing. And a bigger radator. The easiest thing is remove and replace with the same 2.8 V-6

biggest that will essentially drop in is the 4.0 v-6.anything larger will need modification work, and a stronger transmission to make it work, amongst other things

replace with the same engine, its easier to build that motor up than to do an engine swap.
