they have a big problem then ~ nobody will pass when he or she didn't study... anyway, to look this from another perspective ~ I've to say some of my friends didn't have to struggle to excell well in every subjects - they're kinda brilliant, no need to study, I mumbled to myself. But when I sleepover at their house, I learned that they also study their brains out! Don't be deceived by their external looks - at home, they only sleep 4-5 hours a day to study!

It is very scary, but true that this is occuring with the no student left behind concept. We have children coming into 3rd and 4th grade that don't know the alphabet, don't know how to write a word, can't read, and can barely write their name. You might think they are immigrants but they are white, caucasian students who happen to have parents that are just not interested. A teacher has become a babysitter and the government has said that the teacher will pass the child through to the next grade.

Parents and government are to blame and it is all very scary - or should be to all of you young students. Parents want their little Johnny or Susie to have all the social aspects of school but don't dare try to punish them, detain them, or withhold dance or sports because of grades. There is no such thing as earning what should be considered rewards. The parents then impose this on government by suing and the government takes the side of the parent as they are supposed to know best. Until we get back to the basics of education, reading, writing, and arithmetic, we will continue to spiral downward with kids being pushed through grades without ever learning. How sad for all of you. Only the kids are left to make a difference now and only kids can demand an education.
