Can someone help me factor 1-16x?

My answer is 1-4²x

If that's not correct, can you show the correct answer and how you got it?

Thank you

1-16x
Your answer is wrong.
It cannot be factored.

erm, u can factor BUT not necessary.

1-16x
[1-4(x^1/2)][(1+4x^1/2)]
but i don't think u need to do this. Unless the question requires u to do so. Especially when u need to do some cancelling.

Yes dear, your answer is incorrect; and it should be "factorize
1-16x".

If you were trying to apply the formula a^2-b^2=(a+b)(a-b), then you need to notice that here, a^2 =1 & b^2=16x
which implies that, a=1 & b= square root of 16x=4*square root of x.
So your factors are, (1+4*root x)(1-4*root x)

You cannot simplify 1-16x. Your answer is correct but not simplified.

Unless the question was (1-16x^2) in which case you could write it (1-4x)(1+4x).

1 - 16x can't be factored any more than it is at the moment.

Are you sure you're not missing something such as a ² beside the x?

break 1-16x => (1)^2 - (4*root(x))^2
=>(1+4*root(x))(1-4*root(x))
