The GT2 is not in production at the moment, so pricing is largely a matter of how much the market can support. The original list price was about $180k as I recall... however, once the GT3 was introduced in the US, sales on the GT2 dropped so much that many dealers I know of were selling the GT2 for the same, or even a bit less than the GT3.
With the new 997 GT3 out, I'd expect that would also force used GT2 prices down, though probably still hoovering right around the $100k area. At some point, there will probably be a 997 based GT2, and that will be back in the price range of the earlier GT2s (and will also likely drive the 996 GT2 a little lower).

the 996 GT2s vary quite a bit based on mileage, options, year, and such, esp due to low volumes.
I paid in the 130 range for my 03 Indian Red GT2 with 3500 miles on it. It had the interior carbon kit, and the previous owner put the exterior carbon kit on it (which wasnt available in 03, but was in 04+), as well as the RUF exhaust system.
If youre not an experienced driver, very careful, or willing to take it slow, the GT2 is not the car for you. the 996 turbos are much more inexpensive, and much more predictable, tame, and still very fast. in 04 there was a suspention revision done to the GT2s to make them more predictable. The pre 04 ones are called widowmakers. They have a very high death rate among drivers, and i can fully see why. theyre unituitive, brutally fast, twitchy, and scary as hell (it was dubbed the return of the scary 911 by several magazines), but if thats your kind of car, go buy one. You will never regret it. Mine as just been beyond my wildest dreams.
for the guy below me: The list on the originals was 180+, often up to around 205. THe GT3 didnt cannibalize sales like you suggest. they just were too expensive, and most people wanted something more "exotic" in that price range (despite the GT2 being faster and cheaper than the murcielago and such). The GT3 has a different purpose. It is a track car. the GT2 is a supercar made for the street first.
