No no no YOU'RE ALL WRONG!!!
See, it's all in the diet. In order for the Komoto (you spelling experts down there are obviously confusing the Komodo Dragon from Indonesia (Varanus Komodoensis) which is a large...very very large species of Monitor lizard wiith the fire breathing Komoto Dragon (Fuegobreathicus Anotherhitiguess)
So, the proper way to get the komoto dragon to really get you invited to the neighborhood barbecues is to get him on a diet of strict habanero peppers. Once you see smoke pouring from his/her ears, you know he/she is ready. Of course, once you do the habanero treatment, you can switch around to jalapeno for variety, maybe some chili's here and there.
But the trick is...once you get the flame going, you have to once a year...on the dragon's birthday...get a human virgin sacrifice. This isn't so difficult as it seems. If you put fliers up on certain bridges in new york, san francisco, and seattle. you can get volunteers, not like in the old days where lots were drawn.
(you don't give the komoto the alcohol, you drink THAT yourself, what's wrong with you people? geeez!)

People come on. I can't believe anyone is actually trying to explain to him why he doesn't breathe fire. For starters Komodos are protected species and cannot even be removed from Indonesia without the proper papers. And 9 of 10 times only zoos are allowed to keep one. Much less buy one in a pet store. Come on people grow up. It wasn't a serious question. Just a smart comment, trying to be funny.

#1 It is spelled "Komodo".
#2 There is no known living animal that "breathes fire".
#3 Pet stores don't sell Komodo dragons.
#4 you should have posted your question in the lame joke section not the pet section.

Haha. Komodo dragons are only found on the islands of Indonesia and certainly are not kept as pets.

no... it usually takes some time for a dragon to develop the "fire lung" properly however you might have a very special dragon, one of the rare type that breathes Ice... if so you are very lucky.... the most I ever got out of mine was a puff of smoke and a badly scarred arm where he attacked me and then ran off into the woods. I haven't seen him since... however I have heard tales that a brave knight slew him... it makes me sad

Your komoto dragkon doesn't breathe fire because he doesn't do that in his nature. You shouldn't return him to the pet store just because he doesn't breathe fire. Anything else just give me an e-mail.

Before you put the torch in front of his face,
try squirting some lighter fluid in his mouth.
It works every time.
