No, there is no such rule. It depends on the culture, upbringing and disposition of the persons involved. Some people are comfortable in displaying intimacy in public, some are'nt, they are shy.

Yes. There is a very good reason that people are affectionate toward one another married or not. Marriage has nothing to do with it really. the bond between any two people that show affection is stronger than those that do not.
The next part is are they different in public and private. This is just complicated probability is that they are confused and mixed up. Don';t have a clue as to the answer to that.

Showing intimacy in public can mean a lot of things
and not all of them are intuitive.
It may mean, for instance, that they are not having
(or cannot have) sex ... so they show their intention
every way they can.
It may also mean that one is beating the other.
Indeed, submissive partners may show physical
attentiveness in an attempt to curry favor with
the other.
It may also mean that 5 minutes ago, or 5 minutes
from now, they will be in the sack together.
Very hard to tell without knowing the couple more.

Anything done in the presence of public is nothing but, fake..I do not think a true bond between couples needs a show off...

I think so. me and my man kiss, hold hands and rub each other's back all the time. we do that no matter where we are and no matter who's looking. we dont french kiss in public, we are more into inoccent kisses and people will never say: get a room!! we are not shy in front of our families/friends because we love each other so much that you'll never see us a foot away from one another. when I was with my ex it was the opposite. he would never hold my hand in public or kiss me in the forehead. it really hurt my feelings that he always said: that's the way I am... BS when you love someone you show your love!
in that department I'm really happy. with my bf of 5 years we even hold hand while watching tv!

Not really... I feel that it is a little stronger if you can show it in public however not everyone does and they still have a good marriage.... Depends on the marriages and the people in them.. My husband and i hold hands and are affectionation out in public and we would not have or want it any other way.

No. I almost never show affection in public and as such people feel i haven't been particularly in love with my other half but they are wrong. in private i am extremely affectionate. For me it's that i'm an extremely private person. this is just my own case, I think it's different for every couple.

I don't know. I tend to think PDA is more for the benefit of an audience. if anything, the bond may be less, because if you are truly close to someone it isn't necessary to show it off.

I believe those that show affection in public doesn't have fear of what others think of them showing it to their loveone and those that do don't.
