accept your friend for the person they are. don't expect them to be anything other than who they are, (expectations usually lead to disappointment.) be a good listener, and remember that sometimes they may just want to be heard or "vent". resist the temptation to "give advice". don't pry, don't push... treat them the way you would want others to treat you. don't make demands on their time or resources...and do not get jealous of the fact that they have other friends. sincere compliments and empathy are best...keep in touch with a fun card now & then. be cheerful.

Help ur friend in any problem n always try to understand what ur fren actually wants n never underestimate ur friend's ideas. thats all i can suggest.
