ok i have a compaq s6500nx & i hate it i put a ex. mem stick so i have 1024 mb of mem. this week at best buy they have a acer comp. dont know the model # but heres the spec.amd athlon 64 x 2 dual-core processor 4000+ w/19" LCD flat-panel widescreen & a canon printer 512 mb of mem 250 harddrive reads & writes dual-layer dvd & cd nvidia geforce 6100 graphics & 9 in 1 media reader $579.97 reg. price 739.97 160.00 instant savings.so will this comp be better then what i have.thx

Yes you should defenitely add RAM. I don't think the RAM from your old PC will work on it since the AMD X2 uses DDR2.

Gaming, animation etc - AMD may well be extra effective.. working daily purposes (MS place of work, text fabric modifying, different courses) - Intel may well be extra effective. i might recommend the AMD, and dont hear to that bullshit approximately them overheating, i've got had 2 diff AMD processors over the final 4 years with not a single undertaking of heating or the rest..

Sounds like your processor would be able to "multi task" more efficiently, however, you would still have the problems with low memory. I have also heard that people should have 1gb and not 512 mb when upgrading to VIsta, which I am sure this system will come with a free upgrade.

Are you kidding me? Anything dual core will be amazing. Especially AMD. Take your extra stick of memory you have and add it to that Acer.
