I assume you're talking about the no-talent morons who go on there. Believe me...they're WELL AWARE that they have no talent. They're just looking for their 15 minutes of fame going on "American Idol". They act like they're serious, but then they laugh hysterically about it with their friends watching it later.

LOL - I don't know why we as a group watch American Idol. Personally I never watch it unless I'm at a friends house, and they have it on... don't even know which channel its on... but watching it is compelling in some way - watching people either perform well, or fail horribly...
I suppose its like the American obsession with things like NASCAR (gods help us...) - some urge to watch hoping for a disaster...
I suppose as well that might be the origin of Bush's foreign policy... gah.

I just read your question and wonder if a person can accuse others of not being right in the head if they sit around watching others do stuff that makes them appear to be "not right in the head"

Oh for the love of GOD, don't group me in with Cowardly Lion girl...LOL
No, it's just people's misguided way of trying to call enough attention to themselves that they'll get noticed by the judges and make it on tv. Unfortunately, we're a vain lot, and even if it means we look like total and complete morons, we'll do pretty much anything to get on TV. Wait...I said we. I meant THEY will do anything. I'm perfectly fine sitting in the anonymity of my livingroom!

Absolutely, and it doesn’t matter what city the audition is being held in. Riches, fame, acceptance, and recognition all equal power. Those are all strong drawing points to the good, the bad and the ugly.

PLEASE do not judge us as a people from the TV shows and movies that come from here...:(
American Idol and other ridiculous shows like that thrive on the 'silliness' factor, especially in the beginning of the season,at the try-outs.

there is your answer. they were in n.y. if they came down south it would be so bad. but i'm sure it would be a little crazy still. i assume that the type of people that are willing to go in front of simon, randy, paula, and the millions of people that watch the show are the same type of people that act crazy and/or immature.
