Your baby has a blocked tear duct. My son had this a few times and what I did was take him to the Dr. but, there isn't anything that the Dr. could do except tell me how to fix it and that is to wipe off the excess drainage with a tissue and then with your index finger place your finger on the tear duct itself which you will feel that it is the little bump that you feel and you should do this to yourself before you do it to your son. Just press down firmly but not real hard and just rub your finger in a circular motion and as your doing it you'll feel that it is uncomfortable and doesn't feel the greatest but you have to do this for your baby or the Dr. will do it and trust me it hurts when the Dr. does it . Once you start to do that circular motion you should do it about 20 times three times a day for about 3 days and you'll notice that the drainage and tears will stop.If the drainage turns a deeper yellow or green then go to the Dr. because there may be an infection.

My baby was born with 'sticky eye', and developed into an infection that just would NOT go. It passed quickly from eye to eye and back and forth.
The Doc said it may be a blocked or infected tear duct. If it was blocked they'd have to operate on it when she was about 5-6 months.
I don't know if all babies eyes produce tears early but my baby did, they were streaming.
Fortunately my baby's eyes cleared up with persistent bathing with cooled, boiled water (different pad for each eye, you prob know anyway) and some antibiotic ointment from Doc.

Sounds like the same symptoms my baby had...

Good luck with him, poor thing!

Hie
It sounds to me that your little one might be having an eye infection. Iam not a doctor but being a mother myself, i would guess alittle. It is not natural for babies to have tears in their eyes unless they were crying or about to cry. I have a 6 months old son and i observed him rubbing one of his ears for some days. I went to his paediatritian and i was told that he had a mild infection which was cleared with Gentamicin drops the doctor gave. I urge you to go and have him checked as we are not doctors, it is better to be told by a doctor than us. Your baby solely depends on your decisions you make, so forget about what everyone would tell you. Go with him to your paeditrician and you will both enjoy the benefits. Wishing you all the best.

Baby In Tears

Babies get blocked tear ducts all the time. They are characterized by the yellow discharge you are describing. They should clear on their own; to help it along you may (with a CLEAN finger) gently massage the inside corner of the eye next to the nose with a downward motion. Warm compresses can help clear the goop. Call your ped if it is bothering you. One time I needed drops to help clear it up.

Sounds like a blocked tear duct. Massage around the inside of the eyes (like near the nose) a few times every day and it should clear it up! it worked like a charm for my boy!

My son had that when he was a newborn, I got some drops for him from the doctor and it cleared up pretty soon.
My doctor also advised me to put a couple of drops of breastmilk in his eye, so that might help if you are breastfeeding.

try using a warm cloth over his eyes to remove the discharge and make sure to keep them clean as often as possible.
