Unfortunately, no it is not easy to do. The drivers (drivers are the bits of software that allow the hardware to talk to the operating system) for USB modems often rely on software in Windows to work. It can be done but it is a real pain. I would spend the money and get a real DSL modem/router which is more secure and more reliable regardless of the OS you are using.

I do not not like USB for a network connection. If you received your modem from your ISP I would check to see if you can trade it out for a modem with Ethernet and possibly wifi. You will only be able to connect one computer to that modem unless you can create a router with a spare computer.
