Paul, it comes from both sides and the attacks are relentless. And yes to your other questions. The lower levels and "new" guys are the ones that don't understand how the game is played. Like we say agree to disagree but stop the trolls and clones. My e-mail has always been active and my mailbox takes a verbal beating from the trolls. But to return an email only shows that theirs is not active. Yes an email should be required.

The trolls are what makes this section interesting. One of my favorites was John Sherry. Of the two types, Liberal and Conservative, the conservative trolls manage to get the best debate going with the fewest words.
The liberal trolls, however, don't have any tolerance for opposing viewpoint and will report answers they don't like.
As a moderate, I will answer questions posted by both. I find the conservative trolls more open to discussion than the liberals, with a few exceptions.
Everyone needs comic relief at times. And some of these trolls provide just that. Black Knuckles is an example. He is so off the wall that he's refreshing.
Some of the so-called trolls bring up the best points on this forum. It's a shame that they keep getting booted off. It sad to see some of them who have had the spirit taken out of them like Ah Ha.
America is supposed to foster individual thoughts, not shape acceptable thinking.

To be kind, I'll say it's about evenly divided but I'd also have to say, honestly, that the cons seem to be the most vicious. In any event, I think we can do without trolls and the unfairness in the system that results from their abuse reports. Yahoo takes the reporters word just about 98% of the time. And yes, your email should be open to all that use this forum. If you can't stand the heat, get out of the kitchen. There's times it's our only means of defense against unfair accusations, although venting at the accuser only seems to make them all the more vicious. Trolling is a dispicable disease that seems to be picked up early in life.

I think we both have TOO many on each side and I don't think Yahoo reacts quickly enough to them.
Level 1 should not be able to report for sure but as far as asking questions...If a level 1 gets a certain amount of reports they should be kicked off immediately. Those are the trolls that exist to cause trouble.
I have all my contact info listed. So should everyone!

Don't know if I'm a troll, but I can say that I'm neither liberal nor conservative...so I think I can answer objectively. It would appear that there is a 50/50 split, but without question, the Republicans are far more aggressive and angry in their answers. By a long shot. It seems that Dems provide sarcastic answers, and Reps just get angry. Kinda strange for the God Lovin' party...doncha think?

It appears to me that a majority of questions and answers on this forum have a rightwing bias.
There certainly can be some ambiguity when it comes to defining trolling. Some examples are obvious, e.g. expressing an idea that is clearly heinous and profoundly offensive to any person of conscience, e.g. "Should we kill all the n****s?"
But opinions differ when it comes to asking provocative questions that are backed up by facts.
For example, a rightwinger would consider this to be a trolling question:
"Why are rightwingers so ignorant?"
But if the questioner then proceeded to cite a study from last year that proved viewers of Fox News were more likely to answer certain questions about Iraq incorrectly, and also showed that the majority of Fox News viewers have rightwing views, then the basis of the question is understood to be factual. In this case, a liberal would not necessarily consider the question to be trolling, but a rightwinger probably would.
The two limitations that you suggest are interesting ideas, but they might be to restrictive, in my opinion.

It depends on the time of day you are looking, but overall, it seems to be pretty balanced between Lib trolls and Con trolls. Of course, Level ones should be allowed to ask questions. While I post my email address, I can totally understand why people don't. There are a lot of whack-jobs out there who can turn into e-stalkers at the drop of the hat.

I think we have a 50 50 split. No on the level ones, that would cut down on the trolls! Yes, you should have to have a workable contact e-mail address!

no longer particular. I genuinely have seen both yet as a conservative, the fake conservatives stand out more desirable to me. i imagine the conservatives will observe the fake conservatives and the liberals will observe the fake liberals. So i think you're a conservative your self.

When I first started on YA the majority of trolls were cons, or at least anti dem or liberal. They outnumbered anti con/rep's by a wide margin. Over time that margin has shrunk but the the anti libs are still the majority.
