Poverty per se' is open to perception. What we see as poverty in one culture is seen as being afluent in that culture. Human beings, by their very nature are greedy and ever since the first caveman hoarded food for himself, not sharing, mankind has followed his example. Marx and Lengyl espoused an idea of a Utopia, where there would be no rich class, that all people would be equal in wealth, only to find out that all people became equaly poor. With the exception of the new ruling rich. The only way to stop Poverty, would be to reduce consumption, by reducing the world's population. Therefore creating a surplus.
