once you get over the initial fright of contact during the game, you'll never again take part in any other sport, from personnel experience it's the greatest sport to watch and take part in it, also there is a camaraderie within rugby that you wont get from any other sport, go for it you7'll love it.

Just get involved. Other than the 15 a side game, you do get a 7 a side game that has less contact. You also get touch rugby, which could be an organized game if you live in a rugby focused area.
Maybe you should just go to a club at first and get involved with the social aspect of it. If you can't stomach the game itself, there are always aspects of club rugby that does not involve playing.

Rugby is a ton of fun as long as you are not afraid of contact. If you aren't a wimp and can take a hit as well as dish one out, you will love the sport. The people that dont like it usually are soft. I have been playing for 5 years and have loved every minute of that. I would suggest that you give it a try, if you dont like it then just stop playing once the season is over.

I just started this year. I really like it. I have seen it on TV and some 7's games in Newport and Las Vegas. I am looking forward to the season.
