King lear learns regret I believe, for example, in the way he treated his daughter Cordelia. He basically goes through the repercussions of his previous nonconstructive and rash decisions, such as dividing up his kingdom to his heirs, perhaps not realizing this would invite civil war to gain power among them..

from something i found online,
"in literature, becoming insane is often a metaphor for changing the way you look at yourself and the world,"
which is what King lear basically did.

Hope this helps

this isn't an elementary question. i love Macbeth, Othello, Hamlet, The Taming of the Shrew and A Midsummer nighttime's Dream. I have 2 prominent characters, properly more desirable than that, yet i am going to get it right down to 2. Iago is so splendidly vile. He has no redeeming traits regardless of. My different personality is sweet Peter Quince from Dream specifically because I were given to play him a lengthy time period in the past. My prominent speech is from Macbeth. "day after today and day after today and day after today creeps in this petty %." etc.
