I've been living in Oz for 2 years now and I find that about every 1 out of 3 people I meet is rude to me once I tell them I'm from the states. No, I don't like Bush and it wasn't my choice to be born in America. So many Aussies adore all the stupid Hollywood stars, including some of their own homegrown talent that has sold out and moved to the USA...so what makes them any better than the average person?

We don't hate Americans. We are just sick and tired of some Americans trying to take over Australia and a few other countries. We didn't start the war on terrorists, but the American Government expect our country to back them. I'm sorry if people are rude to you because you have come from America. That is disgraceful of my fellow Australians to do that. But please remember, we are a country of many different cultures. Would you go up to a person who is from Iraq and talk to him? Or you cross the street and taunt him? Would you call him a terrorist or you give him the same respect that you want to have yourself?? I have seen it on many occassions with my friend who is a muslim. People will go to the other side of the road so that they don't go near her. And she is Australian, she was born here in Australia. So please remember that noone has the right to hate anybody. Now I wrote a question the other day about why Australia is becoming more like America?? It was a question asked by an concern Australian, who wants some of our values back it was not an attack on Americans. I just thought I would clear that up
p.s. I don't adore Hollywood stars. I also think that they are stupid. Honestly who cares if so and so is married or they are have a fight. Will they publish my wedding, I think not
Thankyou

As an English man or woman (a pom) who lived in Australia for a lengthy time period i recognize that maximum Australians have a difficulty with individuals that's cultural and not in any respect really political. maximum Australians are very pleasant and comfortable, yet a huge mouth, smug man or woman heavily isn't respected. Australians are far extra comfortable than English human beings yet they do compared to those who blow their own trumpet and are very similar to their English ancestors in that appreciate.

Everyone loves to hate Americans. Envy, perhaps? As for not supporting Bush, I think the Aussie PM was an even worse racist, so that is not an issue.

I think that all hatred directed at America(ns) can be categorized 4 ways

1. They would hate any nation who was the worlds sole superpower because they would like to see themselves as internationalists.

2. They dislike the free for all capitalism that the US made famous.

3. They wish they lived in a superpower nation or that Australia was a superpower.

4. They hate the stereotypical American red-neck and are too dumb to realize that its not everyone in the US.

Don’t take it personally. And hey if an ozzie gives your crap just remind them about how you saved our asses in WWII and how ‘great’ it would be is the USSR or China were the worlds sole superpower in 2007.

You need to be reporting any anti-American comments you hear to the police. Australians feel it's valid as humour to make such comments about white Americans, Brits, Canadians or any other western nationality but would shi.t themselves at the thought of insulting muslims or afro-caribbeans to their face. This needs to be changed yesterday. Go to the police.

Canadians have a problem with americans too. We are sick and tired of going into war zones that the states have abandoned, and trying to clean up their mess. Please stop dragging our country into your pointless wars.
