Do a B.Sc with Mathematics and Astronomy or full Astronomy course. Then go up to M.Sc in the same subject. After that join an Institution that is doing advanced research in the subject like Inter-University Centre for Astronomy and Astro Physics at Pune or any such place doing work on Space Science. It will be helpful if you join an Amateur Astronomy Society while you are still at school

A number of good suggestions have already been given. May I add that you ought to start by reading all books on astronomy that you can get and also watch regularly the night sky, if possible with a pair of binoculars.

Arizona State University has a great program for that and they also have a hand in what is going on with NASA and the Mars exploration. Look it up on the net and see what you think. :)
