I've been through hell and back but i found that by using sarcasm and irony as a defense mechanism, it tends to cheer people up in the darkest of moments.

I am a Medic in the Army, and deployed in Iraq. My crew and I always make jokes at the worst possible time. It is a defense mechanism that a lot of people use in very difficult situations. It is easier to laugh then to scream, so we do what we do. It is healthy, just be careful not to insult any one when you do it… I have and it can be quite embarrassing.

yes, and I feel it is the only way out. In the darkest of moment, a sense of humor help put the situation in order, by giving priorities of events and the ridiculousness of the situation, which help do the correct action. Sarcasm and irony are not only a defense mechanism, but they help in solving the problem posed by the difficult situation.

I do usually, but upon your asking this question, suddenly I realize that I have a trauma that has not been humorized. I was in a brutal wreck in 1997, in which I knew for certain that I was going to die. Suddenly now, I find that I have not made a single joke about it!!....interesting...

Only when it's what it takes to lift their sorrows. I think I could juggle if I had to just to lift the room up higher!! Keep using whatever works for you. It's great that you care!!

It appears like that is your way of managing it, through utilising unusual humor and making a funny tale out of it. i'm guessing that you under no circumstances extremely dealt with it, did you? i'm no longer shocked that folk imagine its unusual once you try this.
