... if he had competed in CBB under his Muslim name of Muhammad Abdul Aziz?

I'm only asking because I think it's interesting that the "race row" was between the Ignorant English and an Indian Hindu - a member of a group which is neither underprivileged nor particularly resented in Britain. Yet there was no such conflict with a member of a religion much more feared and mistrusted by people at large (rightly or wrongly).

Thats is a really good question, especially as I am sure that most people who watched the show did not realise that he was Muslim, but how ever you look at it, he had an inner calm and peace that none of the others had, he did try and diffuse the situation, but they just looked at him and his words went straight over their heads. I am quite sure that the ladies (i use the term lightly) were not aware of his faith. I also note that never on the screen were we ever shown him at prayer, so his faith was quite deliberately hidden, The only give-away being the prayer beads that were always in his hand.
I think tho that the really sad thing is that had he used his real name, he probably would have been voted out earlier, purely because nobody would have taken the time to see him for who he really was and he would have been judged by religion and fear.

All a fix anyway a shilpa Jermaine one two to diffuse the race row and show all is rosy in the world of Big brother. By the sound of the applause Dirk should have won.

Seeing as people have ignored the fact that Jermaine was the one to raise the issue of race in the CBB house, I don't think it would make a slightest difference.
All this question does is make out that religion is a barrier that should be overcome.
His character would still be the same but would HE blame his religion? I don't think so!

Yes I think so after all he is a Jackson no matter what name he chooses to use now he will always be associated with his musical family and that's the reason he was second and nothing to do with the race thing.

I think Jermaine should have won, he was lovely. I thought he must have been a Buddhist with all of the little words of wisdom he was coming out with. Are you sure he isn't Buddhist?

OMG!!! I was just gonna ask the same question!!!!!
All these peeps are slating Shilpa for winning (when she hasn't done anything wrong; Its them thick ignorant chavs u should blame) and everyone is on their high horse saying Jermaine should have won, when i can put my money on most of the answerers changing that statement completely once they realise that Jermaine has converted!!!!!
Stop this bloody racism and just be happy that Shilpa won!!!!!

Jermaine has 'class' and could not mix with people of 'lower class', especially the "White Trash"....if anything, Jackson's views should have been challenged by interview as they are not so far from the people he may assume to be racist! (All Davina did was lap him up, discraceful!)
