I need an apartment in a safe area. I found a site that reviews apartments and most reviewers say that most apartments are dirty, bug infested, have loud tenants, lousy parking, high crime, poor maintenance and management. I'm coming from St. Paul. MN. Wish me luck!!

What part of town would you you recommend? I'm willing to go as far as 20 miles from Tempe.

Yes, some areas of Tempe are kinda nasty. Get an apartment in Tempe that is closer to Chandler or in Chandler on the border....Like Lakefront at West Bay, San Brisas, Pinnacle Terrace.

Good luck!

Here is a tool to check the crime in any Valley area:
http://www.azcentral.com/CrimeMaps/?city=Tempe&zipcode=&location=&days=30&x=8&y=4 should get you to the Tempe results and you can see the locations of your apartment choice. If the link does not work, try www.azcentral.com
Since there are many students in Tempe, you may want to look at other areas for a little more peace and quiet. See about renting a house instead, you may be better off. Do ask your company for all the help they will give.
Good luck, it will be a big change but if you enjoy the outdoors Arizona is a great place to be.

I've not lived in Tempe but have visited there and there are many comfortable, safe locations. Phoenix is laid out square - unlike St. Paul which is easy to get lost in! Depending on time frame, pull up their main website, get a Chamber of Commerce toll free number, call them. Tempe people I've met are warm, caring and a pleasure to be around. AZ's culture is more laid back than MN's, has a more relaxed atmosphere - a go-with-the-flow ambiance.

Community colleges, VoTechs, Universities all have housing lists to share with students - many in that area. The source I'm listing below would also have the info you're seeking - they're based in Scottsdale. As down-to-earth as any you'd ever want to meet [super people. Walked from Phoeniz to DC summer 2006. Just mention Podunk Corner - Angels' Apple Butter. They'll relate and may even share laughs about Angel Soccer... cross country... If you can talk to Eric, you'll see. Good contact for you in that area.

Meaning, relax... Most important is A/C. Summers get really hot. Almost as hot as MN gets cold. Was in MN 20 yrs, kids still are. I lived NW - often in St. Paul [work - DHS bldg]. As for bug infests, SW, roaches exist. Bug Bomb 'em. Hedge Apples are a natural repellent and those electronic plug-ins help, too. Few mosquitos [MN's State Bird]. Ants are a bigger nuisance - Boric Acid helps, sprinkle it around baseboards, etc. Or mix Borax with Cayenne in a jar and sprinkle that around baseboards. Keep car windows cracked just a bit if you must park outside - use a viser shade. It will be wise to put a steering wheel cover on - keeps it cooler. All the stuff you do to cars to protect 'em from cold, think opposites. Give your physical body time to acclimate. Stay hydrated. MNs move faster to keep blood flowing in cold temps. AZs may move slower to feel cooler in the heat. Shop when it's less crowded as check-out lines can seem like cold-soaked oil at 20 below, OK? You'll get used to it in time, just helps to know why it's that way...

It's a beautiful area. Many incredible places to go for a day trip - Oak Creek Canyon, Sedona's Red Rocks, Flagstaff, The Grand Canyon... . Think hot air balloons, too. [Might see those around.] What some call noisy apartments may also be cultural diversity. MN's richly diverse, too, so use earplugs if needed. View it as a marvelous adventure. Adjust, adapt, relax and most of all, enjoy.

besides the actual shown reality that i'm no longer a well being care specialist or nurse (yet a destiny well being care specialist :)) i will say I reccommend Banner sturdy Samartain clinical Senter in Phoenix. they have been featured on many well being shows because of their fantastic of care. they have been on delivery Day, and Trauma: existence interior the ER. If this well being facility doesn't have any jobs, Scottsdale Osborn or Shea is likewise sturdy. sturdy success!
