This country is driving me nuts at the moment. What with all this political correctness being implemented and the fact that you are not able to say what you feel anymore, whatever happened to freedom of speech?

Also what is going on with the prison system at the moment? Ok so prisons are full, but why are sex offenders, paedophiles etc being allowed out on the street to re-offend when you have the likes of the benefit fraudster who was filmed running a Marathon being locked up? Ok he was out of order and should be punished, but he is no danger to society is he? He is not going to kill or maim anyone and Im not gonna poop my pants if I saw him walking down the street.

All this plus the cost of living, taxes etc. is it any wonder that last year 15,000 Brits moved overseas?

you have echoed my thoughts exactly. It feels insane and the saddest most depressing thing is that most british citizens cannot envision it ever getting any better. when a person loses hope its tragic, when a whole nation loses hope its frightening.

Yes, it is highly depressing to read the papers and follow the news each day and wonder what became of the country fit for heroes which people were promised after the First World War. If people even forty or fifty years ago had been given a glimpse of the UK as it is now, they would have found it incredible. However, before you opt for anywhere else, give it some thought. There are surprisingly few countries where you are genuinely free to speak your mind, especially as a foreigner. Many countries have far more punishing tax systems than the UK and very few countries in the world have a welfare state of any description. While we complain about the current state of justice, we should remember that some countries which seem like idyllic places of refuge do not have any real rule of law. All too many people when they flee the UK find that they have jumped from the frying pan into the fire, but once the move has been made it is difficult, financially (the cost of housing in the UK presenting a major obstacle) and in terms of human dignity, to turn back the clock and settle for life in the UK again. So before running away -- be careful what you are letting yourself in for!

Yes, I agree with you. I deplore it. We are lucky we still have the freedom to move to another Country. The odd thing is that people still pour in here from other copuntries - don't they read about it?
