No making a move on him would not be in your best interest. I only say this because i was in that position before and i have found out that friends are longer lasting than most relationships. Your friend will be there till the end if its a true friend. If you do decide to make a move be carefull you might lose them both in the long run. Best of luck on resolving this issue.

I think it's better you help her find a better boyfriend first. You know it happens sometimes that two friends break up and after a while, they forget most of things and begin again with stronger motives. I've seen many friends who begin a much better friendship with more passionate feelings. Breaking up can be counted toward a short time rest for both of them. In this case, if you move on her boyfriend and later she finds out a greater desire on him again, but he is with you now, she will think you have robbed her boyfriend. She will suppose you are kind of cheater.
This can corrupt you friendship, may be forever. So be careful. If you help her come out of the loneliness first and find her another mate (of course after waiting for some times and making sure he or she don't have any desire to rebuild their previous relationship), you can go on and start with him. It requires your patience and understanding. I know you have them.
Good Luck

If you make a move on this man, I'm betting you will have one less best friend!
But if your the type of person that doesnt think friendship is more important than some guy........go for it.

honesty is the best policy. but maybe time it right. since your friend may be in a very emotional state right now, she may not understand you. just find a good time to tell her about it. of course be ready with the possible consequences. but if you really think the guy is worth it then just go for it.

Nope! you do not make a move unless you want to end up hurting your friend. But then again, do you like this guy more than you value her friendship? if so, go ahead and make a move.
Or else..forget it.

Wait and make sure she is over him first. Then maybe you could say that you kind of like him and would she mind if you asked him for a drink

be a friend to her first, suport her if she needs it, but let her know how you feel about him. see what her reaction is when you mention that you like him and thought he was a nice guy. whatever you do if you want to stay friends with her be honest and tell her before you do anything about seeing him.
good luck
