I must admit I find it a little hard to digest myself. Robinson has the potential to become a great keeper but at present he has been decidedly average.

With David James my fear would be consistency. I have to be honest on his day there is no better keeper in the world than Jamo, but equally he has some howlers.

With a keeper you look for consistency. My choice would be an attempt to repatriate Carlo Cudicini as he has played in England for over 5 years and as such would be entitled to play for us when he regains his fitness.

Robbo is still simply the best.
Sure hes made the odd mistake but then all keepers do and its always highlighted more for a keeper as invariably there mistake means a goal conceded.
And he may well be going through a slight dip in form but then all players do, look at Wayne Rooney, but it doesn't mean he should be dropped straight away.
The best England keeper is basically the man that makes least mistakes and that is still Paul Robinson, who apart from the mole hill incident that made the ball move in Croatia, has never let England down and infact has saved us on many occasions from a hammering.

Paul Robinson replaced into on no account a international beater, yet has continually been a noticeably stable keeper. It replaced into in basic terms a blip in sort that led to him dropping his place in England and Tottenham. shifting to Blackburn replaced right into a stable circulate; it enable him recuperate his sort at a decrease-profile team and yet nevertheless play interior the finest League. There are nevertheless many months earlier the international Cup, so anybody can take the No. a million jersey yet. yet once you evaluate the English keepers with those enjoying for Italy and Spain you may say England are a keeper in need of being a very stable team. on the 2d a minimum of, my determination for England goalkeepers could be: a million. David James (Portsmouth) 2. Chris Kirkland (Wigan Athletic) 3. Paul Robinson (Blackburn Rovers) / Robert green (West Ham United) potential applicants Joe Hart (Birmingham city) Scott Carson (West Bromwich Albion) Ben Foster (Manchester United)

Lack of credible alternatives? Robinson hasn't made any major clangers for England that I can remember (not like Calamity James) and I'd feel a lot more worried about sticking an untried player like Kirkland or Green in goal than Robinson.

god knows teams used to be picked on FORM and not REPUTATION but unfortunatly not anymore, if its going to be picked on form David James has to be the keeper he has been nothing short of brilliant this season OR Ben Foster who is awesome. Paul Robinson has made quite a few mistakes this season. Arsenal at Home, Croatia away, Newcastle at home etc etc. Time for a change!

He has made some howlers in his time and recently, but he's still better than James. I think Foster will probably be the next no 1. Would probably help if he played for a better team. None of the top teams have shown any interest in him and that speaks volumes, and speaking as a gooner, I'm glad it was only rumours that he was coming to us. LEHMAN!
