Tell the librarian that it's lost. It happens. Offer to pay for it, but wait a couple weeks to see if it turns up. My guess is that it will. And maybe someone will find it and return it to the library.

This happened to me and I just told the librarian and paid for the book. Later I found it and took it to the library and they refunded the fee I'd paid. Keep your receipt of payment, just in case you find the book. It's the best you can do.

Just tell them. At my library, there is a 1 time free lost book thing that you don't have to pay for it is it is your 1st time. I would check to see if yours does that.

Hope this helps,

whatever happens sooner or later they will ask you to pay for the book you have lost unless you buy new copy to replace it or get the book you lost so leaving out either scenarios if it doesnt happen tell them you will pay for the book or buy new one to replace the one thats lost.it happened.
