You compare input to output. You said input on both - I'll assume that the input was rotated 36 times, and you found the output rotated 5.5. (If that's wrong, take the reciprocal of the answer).

First, write down the Input : output ratio:
36: 5.5

Then, divide both both sides by the right number (in this case, 5.5), because you want 1 on the right side:
6.55 : 1 (solution).

Your question may be framed like this way
Input shaft Output shaft
5.5 36
1 x (say)

Therefore,x=1*36/5.5=6.545
If you feel this process difficult,You may do it in an easier way
Output shaft rotation:input shaft rotation
=36:5.5
=36/5.5=6.545
