I would not mind in the least. She should be proud of who she is, and her name! I would not have a problem with it at all.

I'm a girl but I just wanted to let ya know, I liked everybody's answer but Monty's. It's nice to see we we don't live in the sexist world of my parents and when I get married, I won't have to worry about that 'cuz there's so many cool guys out there.
I think hyphenated names are cool for the kids too. My cousin has a hyphenated name and so does a friend of mine at school. It's very common these days.
But it would be funny if the guy had kept his hyphenated name all those years and then when he had kids of his own, he insisted that the kids get the hyphenated name as well but the mother also wanted them to have her name. That would be a pretty long name, huh? I wonder how you would print it? Mary Jane James-Odell-Kurr? Boy! If we all did that, in a hundred years, we would probably all have the same, very, very long last name! He he!

Hyphenated is a good compromise, I'd feel alittle bit like Oh-okay.. :s, but I reckon i'd get over it pretty quick. If she didn't want my name at all - - well... that'd be different I'd feel a little put out, but I guess I'd know that from the kinda girl she was already if i was asking her to marry me. If you know your girl so well, then you'd probably expect that from her. Personally, I like the idea of a girl taking my name, some guys don't give a crap, some girls think it's old fashioned so... follow your instincts, and your values i guess.

She could keep it but I'm not hyphenating mine, the bigger dilemma for me though would be our childs name. If its a boy then the boy must have my name, if its a girl then she can have her name as her name will probably be changed at marriage anyway.
For the record she is taking my name.

I'm not too fond of my last name so I wouldn't mind.
But I do think that women having to take men's last names is a bit sexist and perhaps only done because it's the norm.

That is really iffy. Not sure how I would take that, however it would all depend on why. Like family business, or if she was a widow and wanted same last name as children.
Every situation is different; so it would all depend on why.

it's for guys to answer, but i like to have free in your opinion and if your man have a free mind he will accept that... it's not necessary to go to his family name.. but what about the children and what the point in that? and u can write your family name and add his family name then both will be happy :-)

I could care less, I'm not marrying a name. It's not important at all.

Why would you ever consider marriage if that's what you wanted to do?
