it would obviously depend on the circumstances.

if you suspected any form of abuse you should report it to your line manager, you should also record your observations.

if a child made a disclosure to you, you should avoid asking questions which may be seen as leading them as this could have later legal implications.

you should never promise that you will keep things secret as you have an obligation to pass on any information which could prevent them / someone else being harmed in anyway.

when answering questions make sure you state that you would record EVERYTHING in a clear, factual way.

you should also mention who you would talk to if you were unable to talk to your line manager.
