Hi erveryone,I live in Australia but I wasn't originally from it.I was once watching this American movie: An 18-year-old girl told her
parents she is going to a gang bang party and her parents remained calm and didn't think there was anything wrong with it.
In this movie, both of her parents love her and treat her well.I was
really amazed,if this happens in my home country(my home country is a very conservative one),the girl would have been slapped by her parents. In Australia,If(say, imagine) this happens to your 18-year-old daughter, what would you do?

If my 18-year-old daughter wanted to go to a party,no matter what it is,I would let her, because I will be sure I have raised her being brave and responsible and I never doubt about my parenting skills and the discipline I have given her.
If your daughter wants to go,she will go no matter what you think. In the best way,she will say "I'm going to a friend's house to watch a movie and have a sleepover" and will go to the party. You are lucky she has even told you.

I can tell you what would happen if that was me! First, my parents would make sure that I was in my room and the windows were locked. Then they would check on me every 20 seconds to make sure I wasn't busy being a w***e and getting infested with some sorta STD. The next day I would have been told I would be grounded for a month.
I have a feeling you were watching some satire movie like National Lampoon's or something...

I would have to whoop her. But, I guess if she is 18 she is an adult and can make her own choices IF she didn't live in my home. If she lived in my home she and I would box.
Added: I am shocked at some of these answers. I would hope that my daughter would have enough self respect to not want to go or even consider it. But, if she did try to attend a party like that I would definately show my disapproval. Those of you that would let her go while living under your roof are sad, sad, parents.

All you have seen is in a movie and its always fiction which people think are real and follow the same and after sometime it becomes the order of the day. That is the evil which the movies do to the society ( ofcourse I think you saw a porn). Today sex has become very free and people have almost forgot about marrying and then having sex which was done some 50 years back in almost all the countries in the world. Every thing has its own advantages and disadvantages and here in this case sexual gratification is an advantage and AIDS /STD is the disadvantage.

first of all...slapping your child is child abuse. (if you mean across the face)
second, if my daughter (who is only 11 months old right now) told me that she was going to a "gang bang" party when she was 18...I'd give her two options,
1. since she is a "legal" adult i really can't physically restrain her, but if she wanted to remain under MY roof. she better keep her @ss at home.
2. get her crap and get out of my house, and don't ask me for help.

I live in the US and my daughter would not leave the house!! No way would I allow her to go to such a party. Please dont think that the movies are how it really is in our country-very few parents would allow this to happen!!

Realistically, I don't think a (sober) 18 year old girl would go to such a party, and certainly wouldn't be informing her parents about it! This is more like something a younger, more naive girl would do (and unfortunately, too many do), usually with drugs involved. As several people have mentioned, this was just a movie you saw, so it's not really worth taking seriously.

Since when is Australia a sexually conservative country? Isn't the average age of first intercourse about 15? And prostitution and brothels are legal there, aren't they?

as a 24 year old and living in Australia these party's are not often a planned thing it just happens
i know in my teen years i would lie and say i was staying at a friends or simply not tell what was going on
unfortunately at 18 most girls just say I'm going out and legally you are unable to stop her but if you have a good relationship with your daughter and she does tell you obviously she will respect that you say no if you say it
don't stress or you'll go nuts everythime she goes out
