First of all, many don't realize that there are varying degrees of female circumcision. This ranges from removal of the skin surrounding the clitoris (analogous to male circumcision) to far more devastating forms such as removal of the clitoris itself.

Second of all, many fail to take into account that male circumcision has risks and complications, some of which are quite severe. These can range from excessive bleeding to infection to accidental removal or damage to the penis, leading potentially to death (see link for more info). Also, about 95% of all uncircumcised males will never develop any serious problems with their foreskins and about 80% of the world's male population is uncircumcised.

Thus, it should be concluded that to force either practice (male or female) on an individual without consent or medical necessity should be illegal. The hygiene and health concern surrounding male circumcision is more or less null and voided since the probability of suffering a risk or complication essentially equals the probability than one might develop problems severe enough to warrant the removal of the foreskin.

It is not a part of your body that is removed, it is theirs; so unless there is a medical need to remove it (which is actually quite uncommon), it should be their choice. See links for more info.

Neither. I'm in favor of making an informed decision on male circumcision and against female circumcision.

It seems very hypocritical for the people here to say yes to male circumcision and no to female circumcision. I say NO to both of them unless the male or female is of legal age to consent and it's their CHOICE! This world needs to stop cutting off body parts of babies and children in the name of (false) health, culture, or religion.
Cleaning a foreskin is no harder than a woman washing her labia or cleaning behind a child's ears. Wake up people!!!

BTW- in the US, it is illegal to cut the genitals of a girl. So here female circumcision is illegal. And the rates of baby boys routinely getting circumcised is dropping more and more every year (thankfully) so it's not as "routine" as it once was.

Keeping religion aside male circumcission is due to hygenic reasons, while female circumcission is a disgusting practice. It is extremely painful and unfiar because it leaves the woman unable to enjoy sex, and leaves her in blinding pain during her periods. Not only that but she has a lot of trouble urinating since she can only urinate one drop at a time. Circumcised women bleed profusely evry time they have intercourse..imagine losing that much blood practically everyday?Female circumcission is a practice of rural and ignorant people who do it in the name of relgion by the most primitive means (sharp stones to cut and thorns to sew) I dont think male circumsision is comparable on any level to female circumcission because male circumcission does not cause any such problems later on or stop a man from enjoying sex. It's a matter of hyegine.

I believe it is barbariac to cut a persons body when the person doesn,t have a health issue to start with. I look at it like this we were born with certain body parts and if it isn't broke don't fix it. With this type of reasoning why don,t we just start removing all body parts that could get infections in the future. We could do this at birth and we would all be healthy and happy . NOT!!!!!

I am against any and all such actions to remove part of the human body because they have done it for years or because the church thinks it is best. It's all B.S.go watch how it is done i could never do something like that to any of my children it is horrible. All one needs to do is wash and be clean not cut it off how stupid are people. Now once you are old enough to make up your mind then go get it cut off if you want to.

Absolutely. I once saw a female circumcision in process - they had to hold me down to stop me from fighting them off; it is more truly awful than anything you could imagine. The woman usually has to be cut open with shears in order to give birth; it can take her two weeks or more to menstruate; it is a vile practice.

For the male it is a cultural and a health issue, better for the male in the long run to be circumcised

Putting all religion aside, YES to the male procedure for health reasons and more erogenous sensitivity, with out the extra foreskin, and it's a definte NO for the female procedure, which takes away her erogenous sensitivity!
