I don't think we can answer for the world, Lynda. But if each individual were to examine his or her own heart, find the hatred and bitterness there, (however little it might be), and do something about that, we might stand a chance of improving the situation.
The only person whose suffering you can guarantee to do something about is yourself. Paradoxically, only when I do something about myself can I start to really improve the suffering of others.
Not a popular message, this, but I have found it to be true.

Because the Bible says that "The whole world is lying in the power of the wicked one." 1 John 5:19
Satan, the Devil rules the world. (John 12:31) That is why it is so bad. Revelation 12:9 says that Satan is "misleading the entire inhabited earth;" and verse 12 says: "....Woe for the earth....,because the Devil has come down to you, having great anger, knowing he has a short period of time."
There's hope though. God promises that in the future, wickedness will be gone and there will be no more badness. (Psalm 37:9,10,11, 29; Revelation 21:4)

Probably because of over population and human nature. Even walking through a busy shopping mall - some people seem rude and bump into you or push you out of the way. Courtesy and politeness go out of the window.
