I am curious - This question is ONLY directed at people knowingly commiting fraud. I did it some sometime ago with my child benefit, got caught and had to pay it all back. I regretted it afterwards.

If you hadn't been caught you wouldn't have regretted it?

Not all cases are due to people intentionally frauding the benefit system, some are mistakes made on the part of the department. But when I see the failed to declare full time work. I mean how can they forget they are working, when they have to take half day holiday to sign on!

Hate benefit cheats with a passion. They make it so much harder for really desperate people to be able to get what they are entitled to - and it makes us taxpayers furious to have to keep funding this fraud.

Don't know, never cheated the benefit system.

I haven't been paying all my tax for years, probably owe the government more than most benefit cheats!!

But cheating on benefits...... that's just poor.lol

i WOULDNT WANT TO FEEL LIKE A BENEFIT CHEAT!! I have worked all my life and although I truly understand that some people genuinly need to claim, I have always worked my socks off and I FEEL CHEATED THAT PEOPLE CHEAT THE SYSTEM WHEN I WORK FOR WHAT I HAVE!!

What does annoy me of some people getting benefits is how can our one neighbour go on holiday to USA with her children to Disneyland and she is on benefits.

People who defraud the system create those like me that say the system should be eliminated. I don't mind helping someone when they are down, but I truly believe there are more cheats and lazy people than those in actual need.

Hi Minky,
My hubby returned a cheque the DSS sent him because he knew he was NOT entitled to the money. They sent it back to him saying he was so he took it back in person and had to convince them he was NOT entitled to it. It transpired that they had made a mistake over dates.

If these idiots didn't make it so easy it would not happen so much.

My friend loves screwing them, anything that is designed to stop him doing something becomes an irresistable challenge, despite the fact he has a £40000 pa job, he has a second "identity" who is not only unemployed but has become unfit due to poor health!!

If you had got away with it...would that influence your opinion today. Certainly not an accusation, just a question.
