Magna Science Centre! Great for families, but also stuff for adults. It's on the Sheffield Road, about a mile from the Meadowhall shopping centre.

Fantastic, awesome-looking interactive science centre, built in what was once Europe's biggest steelworks, at Templeborough, Rotherham.
The exhibits are themed on the elements, in separate 'pavilions' which are suspended within the raw interior of the old steelworks, so you walk on high-level walkways past these gigantic foundry buckets and things. Seriously dramatic lighting, and amazing exhibits. Stuff like a fire tornado, air cannons, weird and beautiful water-themed things like a small-scale whirlpool and stuff on water-powered tools.
They even do indoor bungee-jumping there now! A drop of 130 feet that's broadcast on huge screens so your mates get a close-up view of you screaming in terror...

Their website is www.visitmagna.co.uk

I'm sorry but you can't! My family hail from Rotherham but they did the right thing and moved away. If you're really desperate go to Sheffield or better still go to Leeds where you'll have a great time!

I think the question is 'if', not 'where'.

And George the Fat Pink Hippo is right.
