u have two ways:

1- if ur laptop and desktop both have a network card (ethernet), just get a cross-over cable cat6 or cat5 and connect them directly.

2- if ur router has ethernet ports in addition to being wireless, just connect the desktop to the router using an ethernet cable (from the desktop's network port) and connect the laptop to the router wirelessly.

Yes.

The laptop is wireless, so that works.

The desktop needs to have a RJ45 connector on the back, it is like a telephone jack but with 8 pins. A cable connects it to the router.

you should be able to if u set the ssid and channel correctly.
