His name was Loren. We met on Valentine's Day of 1978, when I was 13 and he was almost 15. If you want a character comparison, think John-Boy Walton. Our families approved of our relationship so much that my parents actually relaxed their super-strictness and let me date him. Of course, that only meant that one mother would drive us somewhere together, and the other would pick us up...but I was dating at 13, so didn't I feel special. The sad ending is that Loren was killed in an accident with a hunting rifle at the age of 16. I will therefore never know if our relationship would have lasted into adulthood.

My dad. I was around 3 years old and I thought he was the greatest guy in the world.
When I was 5 I had a crush on a student of my mother's. He was 18 or 19 and he kissed the back of my hand when he said hello to me and I thought he was marvellous.
