Soft drugs are not legal in Amsterdam. Prosecution depends on the quantity one has with him. And it depends on the law of the administration of the city. If you have bought some stuff for smoking, no body will bring an action against you. Do not buy it on the street, go to a coffee shop that has permission to sell. Smoking stuff is suffered( tolerate, allowed)in Amsterdam.Everywhere are a lot of those shops and you will see at the outside if it is safe or not. However, be always carefully without being scared. Notwithstanding smoking stuff (or marijuana) is quite ordinary in Amsterdam do not smoke in public or open.

My best advise is do not smoke at all. It is as worse as alcohol.

Yeah, it is legal in there. But ONLY in special places. Don't think you can just go on the streets having a pot. It is legal, but it is a restricted legality.

What is legal is growing marihuana (4 plants) for your personal use. It is also legal to buy marihuana for your personal use (restricted amount) in a registered coffee shop.

Why do drugs in the first place? If you didn't, you wouldn't care whether it's legal there or not. And you talk about wasting your money? Aren't you wasting it already on drugs?
