If I were you, I'd go to sites for the manufacturers of the materials for the level of design you mean. If you mean "room decorating," then the sites would be returned on a search "furniture manufacturers" and "fabrics." In that regard, one of the largest and most fascinating is Hancock's of Paducah. They have an extensive on-line and catalog mail order business, and there are probably many others if you search on the names of the textile mills.
The problem with "interior design" as a term on which to search is that it is too general. The most useful information will be available from those who have a commercial interest in it, AND their associations, such as the Cotton Growers' Association for information about fabrics. Cotton fabrics, to be sure, but the wool mills and so linen/flax people will also have their say.
And of course the artificial fibers, if you must, are represented by their manufacturers and associations, as well.
