The USA has over 125 allopathic medical schools and at least another 30 osteopathic med schools.

Harvard or Yale are the top two in the nation.....having them as a target is a worthy goal, but plese don't limit your interest in those two schools. What makes a doctor great is the kind of passion and caring you have right now. You won't be a better doctor by going to Yale or Harvard, you'll only have fancier paperwork and be more likely to land competitive residencies like plastic surgery or ophthalmology.

To be great....follow passion and not prestige. Passion will impact others....prestige will only impact you.

Always keep your eyes fixed on your dreams :)

Good Luck!

The above post was correct. I know that in my foreign countries you can go directly from hs into medical school or law school. That is NOT how things work in the US. You must first get a bachelors degree. It can technically be in anything, but is highly preferable to be in pre-med, biology, or some other form of science. You can get this degree anywhere, doesn't have to be in the US or at harvard/yale. You need to get excellent grades, such as 3.8gpa and higher, and get a very good score on your MCATs test. Then you can apply to medical schools in the US. If you decide to get your bachelors in your home country, make sure it is accredited with schools in the US, or you will be in a lot of trouble when you try to apply to medical schools here. It would be best to work hard in hs and go to college in the US to get your bachelors, then you will not have to work about things like your TOEFL test either. You will also have to secure a J-1 student visa, which can be time consuming. If you decide to go to school in the US, be sure to discuss this with them well in advance of your state date to make sure you arrive in the US on time and without any delays. Since you're only 15 you have a lot of time to plan for this and it will take a while to make sure you have covered every angle. Be prepared to spend a lot of of money on this. This is a great education and it is not cheap. If money is a problem for you, then you should take a lot of time to look into scholarship opportunities for students that want to study in the US. Good luck

US schools do accept international students. Medical school is the next step after you complete an undergraduate degree--usually a student will do a "premed" program with a degree in biology, biochemistry, or similar field.

You'll need top grades (you're in good shape there) to get into a good undergraduate school--it s competitive. To get into a really top school like harvard, etc. is EXTREMELY tough. Your undergraduate record needs to be a minimum average of 3.5 (A-), minimum--preferably higher. In addition you'll do well to work your way into doing internship or undergraduate research assistant work as well. But when you get into your undergraduate program, your professors willl help you figure out those details--if you take the initiative to ask for guidence.
Good luck. :)

When you say medical school what do you mean? To actually get into med school you'll first need a bachelors degree or have amazing grades the first two years of university. You don't neccesary have to attend a US university for your bachelors to get into Harvard Med, but of course it helps.

You would have to take standard tests to test your English, I believe it's called TOFEL, and of course the SATs. If you plan on attending a US university known for their medical preperations I would highly recommend you look at Cornell, it's an Ivy League school and something like 85% of those who attend the school and apply for law get into law, and 60% who apply for med school get in...this is very very high odds.

Hope this helps.
