Can someone explain this to me in plain English?
Why with a democratic majority in both houses, didn't minimum wage even get a chance to be vetoed by Bush?
All that was accoplished was making him look good in a situation where they could of at least seemed like they (congress) tried.

Because unemployment rates have skyrocketed in the last couple weeks, and home sales have dramatically fallenl in the past two years; foreclosures and bankruptcies are up too.

The economy is taking a dump and congress KNOWS that to raise the minimum wage will increase costs for everyone and only give raises to teenagers and those adults that can't figure out how to get and keep a job.

If a person makes minimum wage longer than a couple months then he is doing something wrong. Although I have worked minimum wage twice, I never stayed there for more than a month.

If you don't like your pay find another job, or bust your butt and get promoted.

why do you want the federal government to interfere in every employment question in the country? If the minimum wage were $10, then any new worker who could not produce $12 for a company would not be hired! Would that be good?
