I have seen both, I really liked both, I read the book for "flags" and was a little disappointed that some elements were missing from the movie, but other wise a fine film

however of the two, Letters has to be my favorite. I rarely see movies twice in theaters and I plan to go see letters again some time in the next week.

Only qualm about the movie is ther is no time reference, the battle looks like it lasted a few days when it really lasted over a month.

I grew to like some of the characters and even felt bad for of their respective fates.

it is a good idea to watch both together so you can see how one battle can affect both sides.

And BTW, its not an Anti-War film like people say, its a film about the human cost of war and doing what is necessary to survive and win if possible.
