I have an interview with a temp agency for an office position, and I have absolutely NO idea what the guidelines are as far as dress code. I have some beige open-toed pumps, black pants, black shirt, and a lavender suit-jacket. Does that work?

Depends on what you want.

ALWAYS dress for the job above the one you are applying for. Never EVER wear open toed shoes/sandals to an interview!

Go get a black jacket to match your pants, then wear the color in your shirt, not jacket.

A woman can never go wrong with a black/navy business suit (with skirt) flesh colored hose and mid-heel pumps. Your interview is not the place to be fashionable, it is the place to be conservative and boring.

Also, keep in mind that whatever you wear to the temp agency to interview is what the recruiter will think you will wear to interview with their clients. I would not have sent one of my candidates out to interview dressed in a lavender jacket.

Good luck

I wouldn't pair beige with the lavender. It doesnt sound like it matches too well. When I go on interviews I try to remain atleast partly casual without being inappropriate. It's way more relaxing to feel halfway comfortable with yourself then getting all dressed up and feeling so out of place. It makes you feel very awkward in your interview. I don't know where you live but just wear the black pants with a colored shirt and flat or low heel shoes. I would pass on the jacket.

Change the shoes to a different color, but definately wear the jacket, it makes you look more professional, otherwise your outfit is great. A temp agency is a great place to go for a job, they send you on jobs, you can see if you like the job, before making a permanent commitment. Best Wishes!
