I agree, it's only since the advent of the mobile that we are not "allowed" to be uncontactable at any time. I hate having a mobile, I only keep one just so my kid's school can contact me in an emergency.

How many times have you heard "I tried ringing you on your mobile but there was no answer" (usually in a tone of hurt or anger) the implication is that you HAVE to be contactable at all times. Whatever happened to a bit of privacy and space?

In the old days when you got in your car with your phone, you didn't go very far. Usually the phone line would snap taught as you drove out of the drive way and you would have to stop. In some instances the phone cord would get wrapped around the driver's neck and pop off his head. This led to legislation and with strict enforcement the incidence of loosing one's head in a car fell off. Today with mobile phones one can talk to ones ex, fix makup, run stop signs, and eat Cheetos to ones content.

An awful lot of people can pretend that they are terribly important - hence the need to openly carry their phone around with them, in their hand, instead of shoving it in a pocket! And whats with the Blue Tooth thing that fits on your ear, and makes you look as if you are talking to yourself!! lol
