The age of the subjects, the duration of viewing, the level of violence in the cartoons, are the independent variables in the study, since they can be changed.

The level of violence observed in the children is the dependent variable and the study has to determine the correlation coefficient if any between the independent variable and the dependent variable.

The dependent variables are the descriptors. Young children, watch violent cartoons during after-school hours. The independent variables are the effects of violence on television to agressive behavior.
