I think the drugstores have products now that help get rid of scars. Sometimes you see the commercials for them.
I'm glad you're okay now, dear.

I found this site and there seem to be some wonderful tips there - and most of the people are / were cutters.
I'll only list a few of the tips, or otherwise this would run too long - but be sure to check out the website and see what you think.
I'm so glad you stopped, honey...... *Hugs*
Visitor tip # 1
"I used Curad Scar Therapy Cosmetic Pads. There are 21 pads in each box and it was about $12. On the back of the box, it says that in clinical studies results were shown after 8 weeks. wore them for about 1 week
straight, only taking it off when getting in the shower, then replacing with a new
one. I saw results within 1 week. My scars (from razors) got significantly flatter and less pink. Now, you can only see it, instead of also being able to feel it. This buy was definantly
worth it."
Vistor Tip # 2:
"To help reduce the appearance of scars, simply purchase some Vitamin-E capsules. Squeeze the liquid Vitamin-E from capsule and rub into the scarred area. Do this once or twice a day. How long the treatment is needed varies with the size and the age of scars. Small or fresh scars begin to fade in 2 weeks, if not sooner. Larger or older scars can take 2 to 4 weeks."
Visitor Tip # 3:
"I know this will sound mad, but I am actually a secret self harmer, no one knows, and I find that putting toothpaste of scars helps them fade, i know it sounds odd but it does usually
work. Leave the toothpaste on over night and then but BOOTS natura; collection colour corrector on. (02589077). Then put a powder/liquid foundation on over the top in your colour!"

it sounds like you needed stitches and didn't get them so scar tissue has now formed. it might heal and fade more as time goes on, but there are no guarantees.
in the meantime-you can try mederma-it's found over the counter at any drugstore and costs about 12.00
scar tissue never goes away because it's tissue that has hardened beneath the new skin that has grown over it.
i'm glad you have found a way to stop harming yourself-this is hard to do on your own or even with help-so good for you.
but i wouldn't get too excited about that scar going away-you might be able to make it a little less visible but just as an example-i had my appendix taken out back in 1984 and you can still see the scar from where my incision was-it has a light pink color to it as well-that was like 24 years ago!!

Unfortunately it sound like you have a scar...I'm guessing you didn't get it stitched when it happened. Vitamin E cream is meant to help reduce scars. There are other scar creams on the market as well. I suggest going to a chemist and asking the if they have a specific cream to reduce scars. it hopefully will fade with time. In the meantime if you get a deep cut (for whatever reason) it is best to get it stitched as this reduces the amount of scaring afterwards.
good luck!

Cutting your self does not satisfy sadness. You should not cut yourself because not only is it life threatening, you will be embarassed when you talk about it when you get over it. The only way to get rid of a deep cut would be to let it heal.

I, for one, am very happy that you've come through this- ok. You could look at the scar as a motivator to do your best and achieve your dreams. Coco butter may help, you could try limited exposure to the sun, as it is new skin, needs to tan, little bit of tanning at first,, then a greater amount later on, that should get the color to normal, but talk to a doctor, as I think I heard that scar tissue lacks melanin, not sure about it though. Good luck, and congratulations on defeating this problem, C.
